On August 16, 2023, Argentina’s telecom regulator ENACOM published Resolution 1132/2023, introducing new technical standards for Frequency Hopping and Broadband systems.  Specific testing methods for Bluetooth, WiFi, DSSS and FHSS interfaces have been implemented which permit testing and registration of WiFi 6 devices operating in the 5925-7125 MHz frequency band.

–ENACOM technical standard ENACOM-Q2-63.03 V23.1

• Describes specific testing methods for Frequency Hopping measurement and compliance with technical requirements.
• Additionally, there is a new antenna declaration requirement for submissions
• Acceptance of Radiated Testing measurements for cases where conducted test measurements cannot be made.

 

–Updates to Broadband Digital Modulation Systems fall under ENACOM-Q2-63.02 V23.1.

• The 5925-7125 MHz frequency band has now been regulated so equipment implementing WiFi 6E can now be properly tested and approved.
• Requirement for antenna declaration
• Radiated testing will be accepted for EUTs where conducted testing is not possible.

 

Although these new resolutions went into effect August 16th, local laboratories are still in the process of expanding their capabilities to accommodate the new standards.  As such, ENACOM has granted a 3 month grace period where approvals may be submitted under the legacy testing protocols.
